Windows are In!
And they are beautiful! It took a long time from start to finish, but our new windows are in and we couldn’t be happier with the outcome. Avid readers of the Green Realtor News will remember our visit, back in May, to the San Pablo shop of Wood Windows and Doors. After considering all the available options for vinyl, fiberglass, and pre-fab wood windows, we decided to go with custom-made wood made by Ivan and his team in San Pablo. They could replicate the design of our original windows, preserving the historic character of our house while adding energy-efficient, double paned glass. Because each window is built for its particular frame, they are able to keep the original redwood framing and trim, replacing the sashes only. Here’s a few photos of the installation in progress.
The finished product! Just in time to enjoy for the cozy winter holidays. We’re so happy with the color choices and can’t wait to see how our house feels after all of our 2022 upgrades. Several neighbors have stopped by to remark on the windows, saying that they make our house look both fantastic and at the same time exactly the same. Our goal of energy efficiency and comfort while staying true to our house’s 100 year old character was met in spades. Thanks, Ivan and team!
