Market Update | Just Sold | 100th Birthday Project | Photo Contest

No one guessed the location of the September photo! We started our self-guided Walk to End Alzheimer’s at the end of the Sunrise Point Fishing Pier in the Candlestick Point Recreation Area, the starting point for the San Francisco Crosstown Trail. Section One of the trail goes from this spot to the Glen Park BART station, weaving through some parts of the city that none of us longtime SF residents had ever visited. After crossing the remnants of the Candlestick parking lot the trail winds through Little Hollywood, up the beautiful Visitacion Valley Greenway, along the Philosopher’s Way through McLaren Park, over Hwy. 280 on the St. Mary’s Park Footbridge past Alemany Farm, and finally through the Arlington Triangle Pollinator Garden to Glen Park. Along the way we got to see the Sunglow Stairway Beautification, recipient of a 2023 grant from SF Beautiful. These green spaces and neighbor-initiated civic beautification projects are so heartwarming. I recommend you check out the walk. Market Update

The 2024 third quarter report came out in the second week of October. The month started with quite a bit of positive energy coming from falling interest rates, a volatile but ultimately positive stock market, and the lowest inflation in over 3 years. In San Francisco homes experienced a 2.5% increase in sales price, a 4.9% increase in price per square foot, and a 12.5% increase in the total number of homes sold. In the condo market, which has been slow for quite some time, sales increased 14.6% compared to last year. In Marin prices remained steady but the number of homes entering escrow increased by 20%. Currently we are in a bit of a holding pattern as the whole country seems to be holding its breath about the election. Whether you are glued to the news or taking a self-care media hiatus I wish us all, and the planet, the best of luck next week. The 100th Birthday Project on the Marin Green Home Tour!

The third annual Marin Green Home Tour was a huge success. 721 people registered for the event and 249 people watched it live. The organizers expect several hundred more to watch the recorded version. Engagement was high. 95% of viewers watched an hour or more and 85% said that they were more likely to pursue green home upgrades after attending the event. Attendees asked over 100 questions in the Q&A and chat which were answered by 2 presenters, 6 homeowners, and several chat ambassadors including planning committee members, sponsors and local experts. Some comments from the attendees:

“The whole two hours was very well done, a professional production. I’m so glad I heard about it and was able to attend. Thank you for your great work!”

“The resources available such as rebates and tax benefits for upgrading to solar or other sustainable products are invaluable.”

“You hand-picked the homes and owners well as they condensed what clearly was significant research into what determined their ultimate decisions in greening their home and in such a way to make it interesting, accessible and very rich with resources for the audience without sounding like a billboard.”

“I was very impressed with the presentation. Clear explanations. Friendly tone. Nothing was intimidating. Every single speaker was excellent. Moderators did a good job.”

“Thank you for the suggestion regarding the green appraisal report!”

The 100th Birthday Project was the first home on the tour. We had a great response and lots of follow up questions. Click on the image to watch the 8.5 minute video.
