Lucinda Otto holds a Green Designation from the National Association of Realtors. She loves to help people identify upgrades, large and small, that they can do to their homes to make them more healthy, comfortable, durable and resource efficient for the people who live there and for our planet. Using the GreenPoint Rating System developed by Build It Green of California, homeowners can certify their house as a green home, helping to increase the value when it's time to sell. For buyers seeking an environmentally friendly home, Lucinda is a fantastic resource, knowing about existing green properties and how simple changes can make a big difference. Her own home in San Rafael is a work in progress. Check it out on her Green Resources page!
As a seventh-generation Californian, Lucinda is inspired to take care of our planet by this gorgeous place we call home. One of her earliest memories is taking the train from her home in Los Altos to her grandmother's office on Market Street in San Francisco, meeting up with her grandfather to take the ferry home to Tiburon, and looking out across the bay to the Golden Gate Bridge and the hills of San Francisco. Trips to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, day camp on Angel Island, and over 20 fantastic years teaching drama and making art in San Francisco gave her a unique perspective on the Bay Area. Her daughters attended public and private schools in San Francisco before moving to Mill Valley for Mill Valley Middle School and Tam High. They are now thriving at UC Santa Cruz and the University of Oregon (Go Ducks!). Lucinda holds a BFA degree in drama from NYU and an MA in Education from Stanford University. After many years working in local real estate, her previous career in curriculum design and teacher training has proved invaluable as a way to educate her clients on how to be successful in our complex market.
